President’s Message 2014
We are starting the second half of the APICS year this month. On January 21st we will be conducting our largest PDM of the year. The Economic Summit Meeting is held in conjunction with ISM, ASQ, CSCMP and SME will be held at the Kingsgate Marriot. Please reserve your spot as soon as possible.
Chapter membership is still steady with only minor fluctuations but we have an issue to deal with as a Chapter. It is imperative that we get some new faces on our Board of Director’s for the 2014-2015 year. I am serving my fourth straight year as President. Sandy Cammack has been responsible for PDM’s and speakers for all four of those years. Alan Joseph has been responsible for Membership and Retention for the same period. Shelley Hoesl has been Treasurer for five of the last six years. Ron Althaus has been VP of Education for as long as I can remember and Chan Stevens has been our Chapter Advisor. This same group of six serves as Student Chapter Liaison, District Representative, Chapter Webmaster, takes care of Marketing and completes all required reports. The BOTTOM LINE is that we need some more help. In two cases we are in violation of our own by-laws by having the same people in the same positions more than three years. That also reminds me that our by-laws need to be revised as we are in violation of National APICS rules.
If all of the jobs required were split so that there is a person for each job, then none take an inordinate amount of time. There are a few perks for holding a Board position. First and foremost is that Board members can earn their certifications by attending classes for just the cost of materials. Serving on the Board earns you more points toward Certification renewal. Board members can attend Professional Development Meetings for free. If you are interested please contact me. We have to have the next BOD put together so that it can be approved at the May meeting.
